Family Policy

Arkaba accepts children eight years and above. With only five rooms, the best way to experience Arkaba as a family is with an exclusive use stay, either with another family or on your own. Under this option, the guides will run bush immersion programs for the family, including species identification, tracking wildlife, setting camera traps for feral species, radio-tracking feral species, orienteering in the bush, astronomy, and learning how to toast the perfect marshmallow over the campfire.


The rate includes meals, beverages (based on a select open bar), round trip transfers by road from Hawker and scheduled activities (4WD safaris, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, daily guiding).


Telephone calls, road/air transfers from Adelaide, optional scenic flights and items of a personal nature.

Pauline McKenzie reserves the right to cancel or vary Arkaba through Adnyamathanha Eyes shared cultural experience without notice. 


Arkaba is open year-round.

Check-In and Check-Out

Check-in is available from 14:00
Check-out is required no later than 11:00

Guest rooms required for check-in before 2.00 pm must be pre-booked from the day earlier.

Air Charters and Weight Restrictions

There is a general luggage weight restriction of 20kgs per passenger in soft bags to fit in the aircraft luggage compartments. This weight restriction is subject to the flight’s overall payload restriction. Although all care is taken, Arkaba does not accept responsibility for any expense incurred by a passenger due to any delay, alteration or mechanical failure with a charter aircraft.

If you have booked some of your flights directly with the airline or with a travel agency, please be sure to advise us of any flight changes (timings, numbers, etc.). Please be sure to check that your final itinerary has the details correctly noted. Wild Bush Luxury and Arkaba will not be responsible for transfers, accommodation, tour planning, or any travel arrangements that are affected by flights not booked and ticketed by our office.

Deposits and Payments

A 20% deposit is required within seven days of confirming your booking. Full payment must be made 30 days before your arrival. For bookings made within 30 days, payment is required within 48 hours of booking.

Peak season deposit policy – ALL bookings over the Christmas / New Year (22 December – 6 January) and Easter periods (10 April  – 13 April) must be secured with a non-refundable deposit of one night’s accommodation within seven days of reservation.

Covid Assurance 

We are committed to protecting the safety of our guests, staff, and the remote local community. To this end, we are mandating covid vaccination and making Rapid Antigen Self-Tests available to all incoming guests to minimise the risk of a COVID-19 case at Arkaba. On arrival, we will ask that you complete the ‘easy to use’ nasal swab test before checking in at the homestead. It should not take more than fifteen minutes of your time, and a staff member will be on hand to assist should you need guidance. We feel the extra precautionary measure will help put minds at ease, leaving you to immerse yourself in the magic of Arkaba and the time-honoured Flinders Ranges. 

We understand now more than ever that, sometimes, plans change. If you cancel outside 30 days, we will provide a full refund, less a $50 administration fee and credit card merchant fees (if you have chosen to settle your deposit by credit card).

Usually, cancellations within 30 days of arrival, all monies are forfeited. However, with the current COVID-19 pandemic and after medical advice, governments decide to apply quarantine conditions (including self-isolation orders) or close country or state borders; therefore, prohibiting you from travelling within 30 days of travel, we invite you to immerse yourself in the Flinders Ranges and join our Wild Bush Luxury experience at Arkaba another time that suits your schedule. In this instance, you would also have the option of a refund.

The only caveat comes with cancellation fees imposed by third party operators at short notice. Most are very accommodating, particularly in the current climate. Still, we are not in the position to absorb costs if suppliers, like air charters or helicopter bookings, do not extend full refunds.

Cancellation Policy 

As a small property, our business depends on maximising occupancy and cancellations often result in empty rooms due to booking lead times. For cancellations, the following penalties apply; 

  • Outside of 30 days, monies will be refunded less a $50 admin fee and any credit card charges.

  • Within 30 days before arrival, all monies will be forfeited 

  • No refunds will be given in the event of non-arrival, any unused services or unused nights due to flight or weather disruption

  • We strongly recommend guests protect themselves with travel insurance

Payments are refundable outside 30 days (less credit card merchant fees if you choose to settle your account using a credit card), 

Please Note:  Cancellations must be advised in writing by email and will take effect from the date they are received in our Sydney Reservations Office (see below).

Rates may be increased due to circumstances beyond our control (e.g. fuel costs and National Park Fees or increased rates by third party operators). You will be notified of this in writing.

Force Majeure

‘Force Majeure’ means (without restriction) any event that Arkaba could not foresee or avoid even with due care. Force Majeure covers events such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events beyond our control. In the case of Force Majeure, Wild Bush Walks will not accept liability and reserves the right to change and cancel trips.

Travel Insurance

Unforeseen circumstances may result in you changing your plans or even cancelling at the last minute. To protect non-refundable deposits and payments, we recommend that all guests obtain travel insurance, including a cancellation policy and emergency medical care. Travel insurance is available from travel agents, general insurance companies, some medical funds.  

Please be sure to consider pre-existing medical conditions, valuable items and that the policy is right for you.
