Arkaba Conservancy is located in South Australia, on the southern edge of Wilpena Pound and the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park. 

How To Get To Arkaba

  • Flying to Adelaide: Adelaide Airport operates both domestic and international flights out of a single terminal. 
  • Car hire: for self-drive, Adelaide Airport offers several car rental companies. We recommend you arrange your car hire well in advance of your Arkaba experience, to ensure availability. 
  • Shared and private road transfers / air transfers: can be arranged. Please contact our reservations team for pricing and booking details. 
Driving Distance 

The drive is sealed tarmac all the way from Adelaide to Arkaba Conservancy and a 4WD is not necessary.  

  • From Adelaide – allow 4.5 to 5 hours drive (approx. 405 kms) 
  • From the Barossa Valley – allow 4 hours drive (approx. 360 kms) 
  • From the Clare Valley – allow 3 hours drive (approx. 260 kms) 
  • From Port Augusta – allow 1.5 hours drive (approx. 130kms)

Private Scenic Flight Transfers

Flights are into / out of Hawker Airstrip, a 20-minute drive to Arkaba. Guests will be collected from Hawker by our team and driven to Arkaba.

Scenic flight upgrade options are available on all of the below air transfers. The scenic flight can be conducted on arrival or departure into Hawker airstrip. The scenic flight will include the Elder Range, Arkaba and Wilpena Pound, with views across Lake Torrens.

  • Third parties operate all extra services. Although all care is taken, Arkaba does not accept responsibility for any expense incurred by a passenger due to any delay, alteration or mechanical failure with a charter aircraft.
  • Weight restrictions apply to all air transfers. Bodyweight & luggage weights must be supplied for confirmation of flights.
  • There is a general luggage weight restriction of 12kgs per passenger in soft-sided bags to fit in the aircraft luggage compartments at maximum capacity. This weight restriction is subject to the flight’s overall payload restriction.
