Family nature adventures

“Arkaba generates passion and love of the country by its sheer beauty and the stories that lie behind it.
We take enormous pride in helping the country restore itself and hope that we can inspire otherwise similarly.”

Charles Carlow, Owner

Arkaba has long been welcoming families from all over the world who are seeking to share quality time in beautiful surrounds of nature and wildlife.

Spectacular outback wilderness, abundant wildlife and expert field guides to show you around are perfect ingredients for making special family memories. We have a huge diversity of wildlife and 60,000 acres of private conservancy for your family to explore on foot and in open top safari vehicles. Red and Grey Kangaroos, Euros (Common Wallaroos) and Emus are regular sightings on the property and a couple of colonies of Yellow-footed Rock Wallabies reside in the Elder Range – and they are so cute!

family adventure at Arkaba

Our family nature adventures are suitable for children aged eight and above. Every experience is designed with children in mind; from making sure activities are fun and interactive, to practical concerns such as delivering well balanced meals and supremely comfortable accommodation. Discover your Wild Bush Story at Arkaba where our team blend their passion for conservation with immersing your family in the story of the land.

Family-focussed Activities

We believe that connecting children to the bush is fundamental to their education.  Our field guides will immerse children with stories from the bush during activities such as:

  • Orienteering using a map and compass
  • Gathering native herbs to make traditional damper bread
  • Species identification and learning how to track wildlife using their habits and behavioural cues
  • Setting camera traps or radio tracking feral species
  • Creating your own sundial or making string with native rice flowers
  • Discovering stories of the night sky with an Aboriginal twist

Minimum age is 8 years.

Fun for adults too

The kids don’t get to have all the fun. Adults will learn the conservation stories behind one of Australia’s most ancient landscapes, climb the Elder Range (for the more energetic) and enjoy the adult-comforts of great wine and delicious canapes with a view.

Relax in breathtaking surrounds with no access to phones or emails. Spend your safari days allowing our Arkaba team to spoil you and keep the kids entertained, immersing them in the stories of the bush.
